It's gonna be alright you turkeys.

With the holiday season in full swing, I'm sure many of you are stressing over what you'll eat at your family's big gatherings. I can see the questions floating around already: How will I stay paleo? Will my family think I'm crazy when I pass on all of the breads, pies, and wine? Will I get funny looks when I whip out my food scale so I can zone out my meal? Turkey's paleo, so I can just load up my plate with meat right?

Take a deep breath. First of all, you're probably spending the day with the ones you love, which means no one will be judging you but yourself (so stop that). This may be your first Thanksgiving and holiday season since starting CrossFit…you'll spend the day talking about PRs, snatches, jerks and burpees that everyone will be too impressed with your newly found confidence and badassery to care what you're eating. When it comes time to sit at the dinner table, you'll know what to pile on your plate and what to pass on.

I'll be bringing my go-to side dish: roasted butternut squash with cinnamon. Preheat the oven to 400. Cut the butternut squash in half and scoop out the seeds at the bottom (toss them in the trash). Peel the skin off the squash–a regular vegetable peeler works great. Cut the squash into cubes of relatively equal size (don't stress about it being perfect). Melt 2 tablespoons of coconut oil. Toss the cut up squash in the coconut oil to get a good coating on all pieces then put them on a pan (I use a cooking stone, but a cookie sheets is fine). Sprinkle cinnamon all over those bad boys to you're liking…I use A LOT of cinnamon. Cook in the over for about 40-45min–you'll know they're done when you can easily stick a fork into the squash. Eat 'em up!
