Inside the walls of Albany CrossFit you will find members of varying skills, levels, and needs. Some of our athletes are here to become healthier and improve their daily lives. Other athletes are here to compete in the Sport of Fitness, CrossFit.
No matter which category you fall into, we all have the same needs.
We all need to squat, deadlift, press, push, pull, and perform various movements that will improve our functional movement. As Coach Glassman says, "the needs of Olympic Lifters and our Grandparents differ by degree, not kind."
To better accommodate the needs of both of these atheletes, we are going to be offering two types of programs: Fitness and Sport.
The Fitness program is designed for athletes who use Crossfit as a way to become healthier. Sport is designed for members that want to compete at CrossFit.
Both of these programs will offer the same conditioning for the day. No matter which category you fall into, everyone will be doing the workout in the same room. You will find the difference in the two programs after the conditioning portion is finished. The Fitness program will still offer strength work, but it will also include more options to work on skills, volume training, and technique drills. This will allow members to work on "sucks" without having to spend countless hours outside of the daily WOD.
For those members that choose to go with the Sports program, you will not see a change in the programming. We will still be following the same exact programming. What you will need to pay attention to is: the extra work that we may not be able to fit into an hour of class. This work will be listed as optional and it is your responsibility to finish this work outside of class time.
If the double is busy, talk with the coach and see if it is okay to continue your work without interrupting the next class. Please note that if you choose the Sport programming you will need to take extra time to take care of your body. To achieve the best results you will need to spend more time on mobility, keep nutrition in check, and make sure that you are getting the proper amount of sleep.
The idea behind this change is to make every single athlete of Albany CrossFit happy.
If you don’t know where you fall, or have any questions, feel free to talk to a coach. As always, we are here to help you and want to see everyone at Albany CrossFit succeed and be better.
