When we ring in the New Year, it is a natural time for people to look back at what they have accomplished in the previous year. It is a time to celebrate all of our previous successes and set a plan for the future. At Albany CrossFit we strive to improve ourselves and the community in which we live. In the past three months alone, during the busy Holiday season, our members have come together to help others in the Capital District.
In November, we held a blood drive through the American Red Cross. We had over 30 athletes donate blood, which will help to save numerous lives. Our next blood drive will be held on February 3rd at Albany CrossFit. Please consider making time to donate that day.
In December, we continued our tradition of sponsoring a family through the Albany County Adopt a Family program. Our community raised over $1500 in gifts for an Albany family of seven in need of help with warm clothes, gifts, and necessities during the Holidays.
This January, we started the New Year with a visit to the Regional Food Bank. Our members, with help from family and friends, helped to sort and load almost 20,000 pounds of food to be distributed throughout the state. Here is a video of us from the News. We plan to schedule another volunteer shift in March and the more volunteers we have the more we can do to help.
Our next Friday Night Fights will be held January 30th at 6:00 PM. The money we raise will be donated to the local Ronald McDonald House. We hope to see you there as a participant or volunteer!
These initiatives are part of our commitment to make Albany CrossFit an active leader in the Capital Region. We have many ways to help and have great things planned for 2015. Thanks to everyone who has helped make the ACF community great and have helped us accomplish our goals of helping the community at large. We hope to see you at our next event.
