Chantelle is heading the charge to make this holiday season a special one for families in need:
One of the things that I love most about being a part of the Albany CrossFit and CrossFit Clifton Park community is that, together, we can make anything happen. When I first walked into ACF a year and a half ago, I knew that I was about to become a part of something more than just a community of People who liked to work out. I will never forget the moment, during my first WOD, when I stopped and looked at the People around me. Most had already collapsed into a pool of thier own sweat yet they had smiles on thier faces and despite their labored breathing, they were still cheering the others on. I thought to myself, in that moment,"these People have a commradarie and a drive so strong, that together, they can change the world". I went home that night and reflected on that moment, and thought to myself that the adreneline of my first wod had made me over sentimental and a bit crazy….this was just a gym, and these people were just working out, right?
Wrong. I soon learned that this community, which I am so proud to be a part of, makes the world a better place every day. Whether its the amazing physical transformation of an athlete or the humbling response to Crossfit for Hope, together we can and do make a difference.
The holiday season is fast approaching; in fact Christmas is exactly 100 days from today. There are so many families in the capital region who can benefit from our amazing ability to respond and to help. This holiday season the ACF/CCP community will change the lives of three families here in the capital region by adopting them and providing for them in a way that will leave them feeling like we do after hitting a PR with the enire community cheering us on.
One family has already been chosen and will be adopted by ACF. We are now asking the members to nominate two more families, another to be adopted by ACF and one by CCP. If you know of a family (with children) who is having a hard time in this very tough economy, who can benefit from and who would appreciate our help this holiday season, please send and email to Chantelle at [email protected]. The email should include the name of the family, the number of children and thier ages, the community in which the family lives, and why you think we should help them. All nominations are to be made via email by October 15, 2012. The chosen families will be announced here on November 1, 2012.
