November 2011 – TJ Sherwin (ACF)

TJ is one of our most unique members. He was born deaf, and with terrible vision. When he hits a WOD, he can’t hear the music or see the clock. When everyone else is getting a clear, concise explanation of the movements…TJ gets nothing. But don’t you dare feel bad for this young man…don’t you dare.

TJ comes to class more regularly than nearly any other member. He either participates or volunteers in every single event we host…I can’t even say that about the Coaching Staff!

TJ hits every workout like it is his last, and he has turned into quite the fire-breather. His gymnastic movements are through the roof, and his power to weight ratio is one of the best in the gym.

TJ also is the first person to jump in and help a fellow athlete finish a WOD. Always cheering, always smiling. TJ embodies everything it means to be a Member of the Month. His positive attitude and strong work ethic have inspired many athletes, and no doubt will continue to do so for years to come.

We are all lucky to have TJ Sherwin in our life, and in our community of CrossFit. Keep on working TJ, and put a shirt on!

    Hey, I’m so glad that I’m able to find deaf crossfitters and it is such a RARE for deaf people who are into crossfit! I’m member of Crossfit King of Prussia in Norristown, PA and only one deaf member, haha. I joined there last July and love it! Hopefully I get to meet you one day. Keep it up the great work!

    I have been joined CrossFit in Portland since summer 2009. I have been learned the movements include Oly. weightlifting & pull-ups.
