June 2011 – Clark Leach

You’ve heard the story now.  A guy walks in to the the gym, wants to lose weight. Wants to get healthy. Wants to change his life. Many people are not always ready for the challenges that come with taking on that venture.  Clark was.

Clark was that guy. He was willing to make the change.  I remember running him through his Free Trial, and he himself will joke about how he couldn’t even finish that “simple workout.”  Huffing and puffing and mildly delirious, he told me he wanted to join.  So his journey began.

From that day he never looked back.  He was ready for the hard work.  He was ready for the sacrifice.  Clark told me he traveled a lot, I told him no problem. Just come to me when you know you are going out of town and we’ll figure out what workouts to do while away.  Often people use that as an excuse and neglect to come ask for help, but true to his word, he would approach me with a printed list of our Workouts for the Road each and every time, eagerly awaiting the prescription to be bestowed.

He committed to the diet. To the lifestyle.  Before his first day of Elements, Clark had already started Paleo.  One cheat meal since joining. ONE!  Not even at our parties would he stray from the path.  That’s how you lose 63lbs in 4 months.  No questions, just commitment.

We cannot be happier to announce Clark as the June 2011 Member of the Month.  He is as humble as they get and willing to put in the time to get the results he wants.  He exemplifies all that is Albany CrossFit and we know that he will continue to impress us in the future.  Congrats!

“Desire is the key to motivation, but it’s determination and commitment to an unrelenting pursuit of your goal – a commitment to excellence – that will enable you to attain the success you seek.” –Mario Andretti

  1. I agree with Daniel. It’s not a good idea to blindly follow any sort of diet or exercise program. ALWAYS ask questions. If this business knows what they’re doing, they’ll be able to show you data to support their assertions.

    Also, hi from Yelp, Crossfit!

I appreciate the congrats, but I wish it didn’t have to come with the demeaning undertone. If you guys don’t agree with CrossFit that’s fine, and for your information I did not blindly follow anything. I did my research on CrossFit and Paleo before I even scheduled my Free Trial, but I was convinced fully my first day by seeing the results that the combination of the two yielded in person. I then started right away because I wanted to get healthy and in the best shape my life as soon as I can.

  5. […] B had a hypothetical scenario and wanted a ruling: No matter how transparent you are, a gift is a gift. Imagine if, say, Ruth Fantasia accepted a gift during a meal at a restaurant she’s reviewing for the TU. You’re saying that, as long as she admits this upfront, you’ll waive any doubt that the gift influenced her opinion? […]
