Andrew walked through the doors of Albany Crossfit in January 2012.
Since day one he hit the ground running.

Andrew is a CrossFit level 1 certified Coach and Attitude Nation weightlifting certified. He has also attended the following seminars: CF Weightlifting / CF Gymnastics / Explosive Seminar / Rock Tape.
I have not always been a very active person. Early in my life, I struggled with my weight and a multitude of health problems. After frequent illnesses and visits to doctors’ offices; I decided I needed to change the way I was living my life. I needed to take responsibility for my personal health & fitness. I began exercising, playing sports, cleaning up my diet and seeking greater knowledge on how I could not only help myself, but others as well.
It soon became my mission in life to find an outlet to aid others in living healthier, happier lives. I have been involved in the fitness field for the past nine years training, competing and coaching. I attended and graduated from the State University of New York (SUNY) College at Cortland with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology: Fitness Development. Currently, I am a full time Coach here at Albany CrossFit where I have the privilege to help bring about positive change in the lives of others.

The man is infamous. He is a motivation and inspiration to all. And, holy cow does he have a sick sense of humor! Jason was double his current size when he starting crossfitting in 2009. He is looking to pay back what CrossFit has given him, by giving back as a coach. He is extremely sharp, and his knowledge is growing faster than his waist is shrinking. We look forward to an even lighter, even better Coach Murph in the near future.

Brand new to the CrossFit community in early 2013, Adam quickly developed a passion for the sport, and a thirst for the knowledge to improve on something every day in the gym.
Having been highly active in high school and college athletics, a competitive atmosphere is right at home for Adam; hence the passion for CrossFit. The ability to learn and help others grow as athletes on both a competitive scale and a recreational is truly gratifying for Adam. Making athletes better in any aspect of physical fitness is truly gratifying, and a beautiful challenge each and every day. Adam's background as a baseball and football coach, as well as a boxing trainer provide the motivational base Adam brings to each class.
When Adam isn't coaching he is a media rep for the local ESPN affiliate. You can usually find Adam in the squat rack, or trying to mobilize a hip capsule or shoulder joint.

Adam is a CrosssFit Level 1 certified coach.
When I say strong, I mean Cat; and when I say Cat, I mean strong. Simply put, when it comes to "Strongman" movements…Cat is the expert. She has been a part of our community as an athlete for years, and she has seen amazing gains in her fitness. She has an affinity for moving large loads, long distances, in a short amount of time.
If you attend Cat's Stongman class once, you will attend it again. Her coaching methods are fantastic, and the movements she specializes in are as functional as it gets. Cat embodies the spirit of Crossfit, both mind and body.

After hearing an ad on the radio, a new friend raving about it, then watching my brother's friend compete, I knew I had to give CrossFit a try! After "retiring" from competitive gymnastics and taking a couple years off from physical activity, I knew i needed to work out, and it had to be something that was enjoyable and gave me results.
I found Albany CrossFit, started in the fall of 2011, and I haven't looked back. CrossFit has done a lot for me over the past couple of years. Obviously it has helped me get in really good shape- I've lost some weight and gained a lot of muscle. Because of this, I am a more confident person. But the greatest thing about Albany CrossFit is the people. We have a unique community here, and some of the friends that I've met at the gym are now the closest people in my life.
I decided to coach because I have a passion for the sport, and I want to help people be better at it. I want to change people's lives through CrossFit. With my background in gymnastics, I also feel that I can help people develop in that area. Outside of ACF, I work for BBL Hospitality, where we manage several hotels and restaurants (ever heard of Recovery Sports Grill? That's us!).
My favorite movement in CrossFit would have to be the snatch. This lift is very technical and requires strength, speed, accuracy, coordination, balance....... the list could go on. I think that because it is so difficult to master, that it is one of the most beautiful movements when done correctly.

After years of bicep curls and dabbling with the occasional Crossfit workout, Chris Anderson made the leap and joined Albany CrossFit in 2010. By day, he is a middle school social studies teacher and basketball coach. By night, he hits WODs hard in the hopes of becoming a better, more knowledgeable Crossfit athlete. Chris enjoys long duration workouts and Hero WODs but his favorite workout is definitely Cindy.
After two years at Albany CrossFit, Chris decided to combine his passion for teaching and his love of Crossfit by getting his L1 through CrossFit HQ. He runs our evening On Ramp Camp and coaches a handful of classes each week. Chris brings his love of teaching to CrossFit, incorporating games, lessons, and fun into each class he leads. While he enjoys the workouts and improved fitness, his favorite part of Albany CrossFit is the caring, supportive community that makes it such a special place.

Desire comes to Albany CrossFit with a competitive athletic background. She played and coached division 1 soccer at Marist college and competitive league soccer in Puerto Rico. She started at Albany CrossFit through the urging of her sister D. Bianca and has found a passion for not only the sport but the community as well.
Desire is a CrossFit Level 1 Certified Coach.
Kat has been a member of Albany CrossFit for well over 4 years. She is a former high school and college cross-country runner and volleyball player who was looking to fill the competitive void in her adult life; and found cross-fit. She has also played and coached roller derby in Albany for a few years. She teaches high school physical education and coaches’ cross-country and track and field here in the capital region.
Kat currently coaches a few classes a week and will often be seen hitting WOD’s with the community here at Albany CrossFit. Feel free to seek out Kat with any questions!

Mary is a Capital District native and has been CrossFitting since 2011. She’s a Coach because she loves to share the endless good that CrossFit can bring to life for those willing to try. “CrossFit makes you stronger, physically, mentally. It sharpens your focus and is a reminder that we possess the ability to keep going well beyond what was thought possible.” Favorite movements: Deadlift. Clean and Jerk. I first started at ACF in Sept. 2011 and this much is true: It all comes down to you. Yes, we have an incredible community, but much like life, CrossFit is not easy – you have to find your reason why.
I’ve always been an athlete and love team sports. With CrossFit, when it’s 3, 2, 1…Go! and the clock starts and you start to move; it is in the process of pushing through the impossible that you learn about yourself and what you’re truly capable of doing. That moment to me is magical. The ultimate reward is in inspiring others to see what they are capable of too.

I found CrossFit because I was tired with my mundane exercise routine. Courtney Baksa suggested I give CrossFit a try so I signed up for the February 2013 bootcamp. Crossfit changed my whole outlook on fitness and health. It has made me more conscientious about what goes in to my body. I was asked to start coaching when I moved to Iowa at a local Des Moines affiliate. I accepted because I wanted to help others reach their fitness goals through CrossFit. If I were to choose a dream job it would be owning and operating a successful CrossFit Affiliate. My favorite CrossFit movement is the worlds fastest lift, the snatch.

Pat came to Crossfit from a Martial Arts background with over 20 years of experience as a student and instructor. He played Rugby in college and for teams in New Jersey and Albany; and in a past life, he was a high school teacher. Pat works for the New York State United Teachers union as Assistant Manager of Member Benefits overseeing its coordinated communications efforts.
He has been CrossFitting since November of 2008 and favors the longer Metcons with bodyweight movements.

Dr. Bianca Treski Hughes is the spine coach at Albany Crossfit. She is always willing to chat with athletes on how to improve performance and avoid injury by addressing structure weaknesses. Dr. B graduated from the New York Chiropractic College in 2003 and is a Distinguished Fellow in the Chiropractic Biophysics Technique with a specialty in scoliosis correction. She played collegiate rugby and intramural softball in graduate school.
A strong woman both inside and outside of the gym, Mamba is especially committed to helping our female athletes develop the strength and confidence that she found herself through powerlifting.
Chantelle currently coaches our ladies lifting program, which is a weekly class dedicated to improving the squat, deadlift, press, and bench press.
Chantelle is a Level 1 trainer and CrossFit Crossfit Powerlifting trainer.
When she is not getting people stronger she is practicing Law for the New York State.
Shye became a Level 1 Crossfit trainer in October 2011 and offers personal training. In addition, he is a squash and racquetball instructor and offers introductory lessons to people who have an interest in learning these sports at the Court Club. Recently Shye became the owner of Albany CrossFit. You can find Shye and his basset hound Louie every day at the Court Club!
