Beasts and Ninjas: Jay’s Thoughts.

as an athlete:

Your game is always stepped up at competition, even just something fun like Friday Night Fights.  I pushed myself harder than a typical training day for sure.  During the "mini-Cindy" hearing Chris say we are 5 minutes in was crazy, because it had literally felt like I had been going for 10 minutes, when actually it was about 3 minutes, after Dave's 2 minute Grace.  It is now Saturday and my body hates me.

as a member of the community:

Watching everyone gather around Patti as she finished her burpees gave me chills.  The power of our community never ceases to amaze me.

as a coach:

Helping Dave to a sub 2 minute Grace.  The look on his face was priceless, it reminded me of watching a dog jump on something they shouldn't have and being like, "I don't know how I got here…" Dave's expression was of a man that was not in his own body yet in complete control.

as the box owner:

Just seeing an event like this come together reminds me of why I pour my heart and soul into Albany CrossFit.  From Chris, Murph, James, and Pat busting their butts to see it run smoothly.  To watching athletes crush themselves for points.  To being a part of an amazing event on a Friday Night.  Each aspect of Friday Night Fights brings me tremendous Joy, Satisfaction, and Gratitude.
