It is impossible to only pick one thing I love about Albany CrossFit. The community is incredible, the closeness throughout the box is so unique; I have never been apart of anything like it. I have made so many awesome friends in the past 8 months, I can’t imagine not having them in my life. I also love the coaches. They are always there to help you, and more importantly, to push you out of your comfort zones.
Jay… obviously keeps me coming back I have grown in so many aspects since joining Albany CrossFit. I am stronger, faster, and better all around. I have proved a lot to myself and it is such a high, I want to have it more! I love putting it all out there and showing myself I CAN do better, and I CAN break the barriers.
I have seen many physical improvements but more importantly my mental strength has grown tremendously. The old Audra would be terrified of the wods and probably not go to class, but now, I take them as a challenge. For example, seeing “Clovis,” I would have said “absolutely not!” but I saw it and was excited to do it. After completing the wod, I was SO surprised and proud of myself. I am not afraid of anything anymore and I love it.
Crossfit has helped me in everyday life because I am so much healthier; I am always ready for a new adventure. I have SOO much more energy. I used to wake up feeling groggy, then all day I would be tired, I always felt I needed a nap. Now I find myself waking up earlier then I plan to, and super energized all day long.
One of my favorite Albany CrossFit stories has to be from Friday Night Fights, beasts and ninjas. During the last WOD there were two people left, everyone crowded around and cheered as loud as they could. Then there was one, Patti she was awesome. She overcame so many obstacles that night and it was really inspirational. The way everyone cheered her on really emphasized the amazing community we have at Albany CrossFit. It doesn’t matter how much you can lift, how many burpees you can do, or how fast you do a workout, everyone will always be there for you cheering you on every step of the way.
My overall most favorite Albany CrossFit story has to be Mission Hope. The insane 30 mile journey many of us embarked on. Team Weird was born. As annoying as it may be to others, it is really just our own little family. We grew so close to each other and made friendships that will last for many years. Through all the pain and frustration we dealt with during those 12 hours, we were there for one another and didn't let anyone quit. We kept each other going. I cannot imagine completing the "mission" with any other team. I am so lucky to have met these guys (along with everyone else).
